By and large, it’s a mixed bag, with entries of varying lengths — some just a couple of lines. Meanwhile, the older the edition (pre-2000s), the closer to the real Mother Goose rhymes you’ll get. Some of the original stories were quite dark and, as a result, haven’t made it past today’s editors unscathed. Unchanged, however, are their soothing rhythms, colourful illustrations and memorable storytelling. So whatever your preference, this book is a keeper!
