My Honest Baboodle Review – Renting a Double Buggy for Disneyland Paris
I recently returned from a very brilliant (and exhausting!) trip to Disneyland Paris with my 3-year-old and 7-month-old. Anyone attempting an adventure with two very small people knows how much planning, packing and general logistics are involved. Disneyland is a magical place, yes, but only when you’re properly prepared and organised! So how on Earth were we going to manage getting to and from our destination via three trains (City Thameslink, Eurostar and TGV) with three backpacks, two suitcases, two single buggies and only two parents?! We realised there was only one variable in that list we could improve upon, so we rented a double buggy from a company called Baboodle.
We currently have a Bugaboo Butterfly for our toddler and a Stokke Yoyo for the baby. When my husband and I take them out together on a day trip, we always push one buggy each. Sometimes, the baby will go into the carrier while my toddler is in the buggy. Other times, we use a buggy board. However, to be honest, neither my toddler nor I are the biggest fans of it.
I knew that when we went to Disneyland, none of these solutions would work.
The Solution: Renting from Baboodle
I’d first heard of this brilliant company through a friend. I mentioned that I was thinking of buying a double buggy second-hand. She told me how she’d rented a travel pram for her Spanish holiday, leaving her bulkier one at home. She asked if I had considered it.
In truth, the possibility hadn’t even crossed my mind. Yet the more it did, the more it made total sense. Renting a double buggy through Baboodle meant:
- One parent could push both children, while the other handled all the heavy bags (my poor husband in this case)
- I could keep the pram for as long as I needed and simply return it when I was done
- I didn’t need to spend hours scouring Facebook Marketplace or WhatsApp groups for someone selling what I needed
- I wouldn’t have to go to the faff of trying to sell it afterwards
- I knew it would be clean and in very good condition
- I wouldn’t have to leave it gathering dust in my garage once the trip was over
Yep, I was convinced!
Browsing the Baboodle Website for a Double Buggy
Looking at Baboodle’s website, I’m so impressed with the amount of stuff available for rent. They’ve really stayed true to their tagline of “rent everything but the baby!” I really wish I’d known about them before having my first child! Adopting their try-before-you-buy mentality would have made those early days far less stressful.
They’re also the official leasing partners for big pram brands like Bugaboo, iCandy, Cybex, Out n About and Bebello, which reassured me that everything would be high-quality and properly maintained.
The Double Buggy We Rented
After some researching, I opted for the Out n About Nipper Double, which came in at £25 per month. This model ticked all of our boxes. It was simple, sturdy and designed to accomodate children of vastly different heights and weights, without any compromise to manoevrability.
I loved that both children were able to sit side by side comfortably while being able to recline independently for naps. This turned out to be fab when my son was tired from walking around the parks but my daughter wanted to sit up to look around at everything. I also rented a double raincover to come with it. Another very good choice, as it absolutely poured down on several occasions during the trip.
Baboodle delivered the Nipper about a week before we left. We used this valuable time to familiarise ourselves with the buggy. For instance, folding it up and down, figuring out what we could realistically store underneath, and practising getting that raincover on quickly. And a good thing we did, too!
After pushing a Stokke Yoyo around the streets of London for the last seven months, this was a VERY different beast. Amazingly, however, it still felt smooth and very easy to push. Those three big wheels were a delight. Meanwhile, with a bit of doing, we were able to fold it down neatly enough to stow it in or beside a luggage rack with minimal obstruction.
How the Nipper Performed at Disneyland Paris
The Nipper was absolutely wonderful on the trip. I’m not exaggerating when I say that renting this double buggy from Baboodle made navigating London trains, multiple French lines and stations and the Disney Parks a cinch.
It was so handy that one parent could push both children while the other nipped off (pardon the pun) to grab something. It was also lovely to see my two children snuggling side by side on the last evening at the parks under a cosy blanket whilst watching the fireworks. Plus, it made for a brilliant place to dump all the bags when my son was running around and our shoulders needed a rest!
Returning the Pram to Baboodle: Free and Easy
I arranged for the Nipper to be collected before the end of the month. This was incredibly straightforward (and free!). You just go onto the calendar, book your date and time slot, then wait for them to turn up. It saddened me to see it go, but once life returned to normal, we quickly realised that we didn’t need a double buggy day to day.
Would I Use Baboodle Again?
Yes! Yes I would. I’ve already recommended the company to several friends. I would 100% use Baboodle again to rent a double buggy for another holiday or big day out. I’d also like to try a few different items to see what else works for us. I can’t even tell you how many carriers I had to buy and return before finding one that was actually comfortable!
The whole process, from booking to collection, was genuinely effortless. The pram arrived in great condition and made our Disney trip so much smoother. For London parents juggling travel, storage and budgets, renting just makes sense.
If I’d known about Baboodle when I had my first baby (before I spent ages buying everything new) I would have definitely made good use of it. It would have taken so much of the pressure off when making those early choices. Not to mention the weeks of agonising research and second guessing preceding them!
So if you’re considering renting a pram or other baby gear (including carriers, bouncers, highchairs, cribs, toys and more), head over to Baboodle and get ready to enjoy parental peace of mind.
P.S. In a previous post, I shared 12 postpartum gift ideas for new mums. Having experienced the ease, convenience and value in renting through Baboodle, I’d add a Baboodle gift card to that list!
